St. John's College of Paramedical Sciences, recognized by the Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Kerala, was started in 2014 with an intake of 30 students per academic year.
Laboratory tests play an important role in the detection and treatment of many diseases, and DMLT Course trains students to acquire the basic skills to perform these tests in the fields of Clinical Chemistry, Pathology, Microbiology and Blood Banking. The course gives the students sufficient opportunities to expand their horizon to higher level of placement in modern laboratories.
The duration of the Course is 2 years. 18 months of theory classes followed by 6 months of practical training. Course consists of following 3 subjects: 1) Biochemistry, 2) Histopathology, Blood Banking & Hematology, 3) Microbiology and Parasitology. An examination will be conducted at the end of the course with written, oral and practical tests. A minimum of 50% marks in each of the above three subjects is required for a pass. The course commences normally during the month of October/ November.
With the ever increasing demands for allied Health Specialists, the successful students can get excellent job opportunities in Government Hospitals, Public Sector and Private Hospitals in India and abroad.
Candidates who have passed the higher secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized equivalent there to, with 40% marks in physics, chemistry and biology put together are eligible. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates.
Candidates who have passed the VHSE, with 40% marks in physics chemistry and biology put together are eligible. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates. Except for service candidates, all other applicants shall have completed 17 years of age and upper age limit is 35.
